Day 1: Paris
Arrive in spectacular Paris and enjoy a seamless transfer by motorcoach to your comfortable hotel accommodations. Meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a welcome dinner at one of Paris' lively restaurants and enjoy an orientation drive to get a first impression of the "City of Light." (D)
Day 2: Paris
Wake up and satisfy your appetite with breakfast on us, then embark on a guided morning tour of Paris. Catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, Place de la Concorde, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and the renowned Champs-Elysees. Your tour also includes a visit to the legendary Notre Dame Cathedral. The remainder of your afternoon and evening are yours to do as you please, whether you would like to explore more of Paris or simply rest your feet for another memorable day ahead. (B)
Day 3: Paris
Enjoy a delicious breakfast before visiting the palace of Versailles. Just a short distance from Paris is the palace of the Sun King, Louis XIV. Marvel at the sumptuous decor of this most regal of residences, particularly the ornate royal chapel and the lavish Hall of Mirrors. Your local guide will bring its history to life during your visit, then you'll have time at your leisure to stroll through parts of the elegant 250-acre gardens. Another afternoon at leisure back in Paris awaits. (B)
Day 4: Paris / Avignon
Relax in first class seats aboard the high speed TGV (Train a Grande Vitesse) as you travel south through the heartland of France to Avignon, "great city of the popes" and each July, host to one of the world's largest arts festivals. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before a panoramic tour of Avignon. Visit the impressive Palace of the Popes and the famous bridge. At the end of the day you'll be treated to dinner and wine tasting in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region at Les Domaines Mousset. (B,L,D)
Day 5: Avignon / Carcassonne
Venture through the French Countryside steeped in ancient Roman history. Your first stop is in Pont du Gard to see the largest remaining Roman Aqueduct in France. Visit the Roman Ampitheater and see the Maison Carree, France's best preserved Roman temple. Continue past Montepellier and arrive in Narbonne for lunch and a wine tasting at the Chateau L'Hospitalet. Reach the medieval, walled town of Carcassonne in the late afternoon for an orientation walk and evening at leisure. (B,L)
Day 6: Carcassonne / Barcelona
Cross the border into Spain and arrive in Barcelona's second largest city. Tonight features a special farewell dinner at a local restaurant featuring paella. You may also choose to join an optional Flamenco show after dinner. (B,D)
Day 7: Barcelona
There's so much more ahead of you on your journey, so enjoy your final breakfast on land. Sightseeing today features the Columbus Monument, the elegant tree-lined Ramblas, Plaza de Cataluna and Paseo de Gracia. Admire the spectacular Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's masterpiece, and enjoy a panoramic view of the city from Montjuic Hill. Visit the gothic quarter before making your way to meet Crown Princess in the harbor. (B)
